Yes — open Settings from this menu and use the Visualizer dropdown to switch between Smooth Wave (the default), LED Blocks, Classic Bars, Mirror Bars, Chunky Pills, and Dot Line. It swaps instantly and remembers your pick for next time. Settings also has Art Glow and Art Bounce sliders, which control the album art's bass-reactive glow ring and scale pulse independently — set either to Off if you'd rather the art stayed still.
On Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (desktop and Android), yes — it and the album art's Glow/Bounce pulse are both driven by the real audio as it plays. Safari on iPhone and iPad can't give a web page that kind of access at all, and desktop Safari only allows it in a limited, inconsistent way, so on those browsers we simulate a beat instead — a fake pulse tuned to look and feel like it's reacting to real music. Every visualizer style and both Glow/Bounce still work everywhere; on Safari they're just keeping time with a simulated beat rather than the actual track.
It turns off automatically when the volume slider is all the way down (muted) — that's expected, not a glitch. Bring the volume up even slightly and it picks back up immediately.
